Publishing is more art than science.
For example, when using Ingram’s publishing arm Spark, one can create a paperback and an eBook edition at the same time. This is wonderful.
Part of the process at Spark is to enter the “Publication Date.”
Now, even those not involved with publishing can make a fair guess as to the meaning of this term. It means the date upon which the book is published and made available for sale.
Here at Scribbulations Towers, we are scratching our heads as we ask the question, “Why is the eBook edition released immediately whether we want it to be or not?”
It makes the planned release of a new title more like a disorderly escape.
