Disappearing Reviews

I didn’t know this was “a thing” until it happened to me.

It seems Amazon removes reviews for whatever reason, without warning, and without a mechanism for redress.

I applaud their efforts to remove scam reviews, paid-for reviews, and troll reviews. However, I didn’t have any of those.

Indie authors rely on amazon reviews and personal recommendations. I would think that Amazon would treat us better.

Has this happened to you? What did you find out about it?

Yes. Frequently. They remove reviews if their algorithms find that you know someone. They are pretty brutal with it. That’s why I am moving away from Amazon as much as possible and publishing with Ingram Sparks and Pronoun. I find those venues much more professional and I believe in selling books, not pages. I don’t cheat but I do know some of my readers, and they should be allowed to comment on my work. I hope to go wide with all my books by the first of the year.

      Thanks,
I know Spark well, but not Pronoun. I will investigate.
But, of course, how do we avoid the behemoth that is Amazon?
